Custom Digital Pianos

Manufacturers make digital pianos for the masses.
We make yours.... for YOU.

After years of building an occasional custom digital piano I decided in 2019 to make custom digital pianos part of our regular lineup and in 2022 to make it our primary focus.

If you are seriously considering purchasing one of our acoustic to digital conversions, take the time to read this introduction.

Digital vertical pianos are available with a standard digital action or genuine acoustic action and keys.  Digital grand pianos are available with a standard digital action, a hybrid digital action and shortly we will offer a genuine acoustic grand action.

Below you will find some of our available cabinets.  We can also convert your piano.  Want to purchase, have questions or looking for something specific? Email me.

Due to the increasing number of custom digital pianos we've completed and sold, I've moved our portfolio of completed digitals HERE.

Feelin’ Groovy

In late September of 2018 I was invited to the Baldwin factory to bid on various piano shells, and parts.  Of all the pianos I saw there that day, one stood out.  If I left with nothing else, this was what I wanted.

Originally sold by Baldwin as the "Feelin' Groovy" model.  We are building it as a digital piano with an actual acoustic grand piano action and keys.

$24,995 as a Digicoustic digital piano (with genuine acoustic action/keys)

$4,200 add a player system (keys move)

Schiller FP baby grand.  Already gutted, ready to be a shell or become a Ragland custom digital piano.

$16,995 Built as a digital and cabinet refinished (we can match a sample)

$4,200 additional for a player system

$1500 as a bare shell

Numerous Baldwin Custom Grand Cabinets

We have many grand piano shells suitable for use as digital pianos.  Several one of a kind custom finishes done at the Baldwin factory, some Rosewood cabinets, Bubinga cabinets, Walnut, Cherry, Mahogany and more.  Some with the wood already finished, some unfinished and ready to stain to match your requirements.

Available Uprights/Verticals:

1909 Wing & Son Upright

Wing & Son built some nice, high end, very ornate cabinets.  Notably, some of their models had 5 pedals (as does this one).  Personally, I am happy either way with this one.... restored to original ($14k including refinishing) or as a digital, which is what I'm offering here.  Cabinet refinished, high end digital with genuine acoustic action and keys.

$12,900

Schaeffer Upright

This is a Schaeffer upright piano with an absolutely gorgeous, quartersawn "tiger" Oak cabinet.  Typical of the pianos we acquire, it was beyond an economical restoration so we opted for a professional conversion to a digital piano.

This one is the star in our video series showing "how to" conversion of an acoustic to digital piano conversion.  Video below.

$6,900

Completion time is generally 30-45 days from payment.  This conversion will receive a true, acoustic piano action and keys and will use the Casio Privia PX-870 digital piano as the basic source for controls and digital components (though we do augment this excellent digital with additional amplification, speakers and other components).

1895 Hallet & Davis Upright

This is a Hallet & Davis upright piano made around 1895. The cabinet is an absolutely gorgeous, figured mahogany.  Typical of the pianos we acquire, it was beyond an economical restoration so we opted for a professional conversion to a digital piano.

Winter #247334

Gorgeous Duncan Phyfe cabinet.  Case will receive complete touch up and polishing, brass will be polished and lacquered, conversion to a digital piano will be via a Casio PX-870 and additional amplification and speakers.

Briggs #19045

Beautifully figured grain, this 1894 Briggs upright piano still wears a near perfect set of ivory.  We're thinking of installing a new action as we do with all our digicoustic pianos but retaining the original keyset since it's in such good shape.  What do you think?  Interested?

Emerson Upright Piano #67306

Emerson upright piano, circa late 1890's.  Beautiful cabinet.

Mathushek Upright Piano

Mathushek upright piano.  What really makes this piano different are the copper panels in the upper frame panel.  Underneath the green paint is a nice mahogany.  What do you think?  Refinish?  Leave cabinet as is?  One thing is for certain, it needs to be a custom digital piano!

George Steck # 16591 Upright Piano

George Steck upright, serial number 16591, built between 1890-1895.  Beautiful carvings.  Not sure what wood specie the cabinet is, will determine that and update this listing.

Malcolm Love Upright Piano

Another interesting cabinet.  I believe this one was painted black over what was originally a wood finished cabinet.  Started as a Malcolm Love but... it's going to be - a custom Ragland digital piano.

Collard & Collard English Vertical

This is a really nice Collard & Collard upright piano.  Inside, these pianos aren't highly desirable.... the "birdcage" action is unfamiliar to most piano technicians in the USA and parts are difficult to get.  Of course, with its new destiny in life to become a custom Ragland digital piano, none of that matters.  We'll remove the old action, strings and plate and build a new action to mate to the original keys which are still wearing their original ivory and also have sharps with rounded fronts.... very cool!

Hamilton Tiger Oak Upright Piano

This piano started life as a Baldwin Hamilton quartersawn "tiger" oak upright.  As with virtually all the pianos on this page (and 99% of upright pianos this age) it needed restoration which was simply not economical.  That said, we're always glad when a customer forgoes the financial value consideration and has us restore an old upright as an acoustic, but the fact of the matter is that today, most people want a digital for the variety of sounds, ability to use headphones, less scheduled maintenance (tunings are over $100 on average now...) so it made sense to offer this one as a digital.

Meister Mahogany Upright Piano

If you like ovals, columns and leafy trim then this is the cabinet for you!  Very nice Mahogany cabinet, has a little age on it but in decent shape.  Not often that I see a two and a half leg design on an upright - one and one and a half are far more common.

Nelson Oak Upright Piano

Very stout, oak Cabinet.  Somewhat Mission style in appearance but not sure I'd call it a straightforward Mission style.... maybe influenced.  Same story as a lot of these pianos, this one is a rescue and we're looking forward to finding it a new home as a custom built digital piano.

1950’s Winter Mid Century Spinet Piano

Many of the conversions we do are large, antique upright pianos.  This piano is a departure from that.... but still a very interesting piano.  Made by Winter, this is a 1950's vintage Mid Century Modern cabinet.  Brass music rack, tall front leg ferrules, definitely an interesting piece.

French Provincial Cherry Console

Need a small digital but still want a nice furniture cabinet?  Here's a nice, elegant Chickering console in French Provincial.

Can be anything from a basic MIDI controller with a true acoustic piano action to a Casio PX-870 or GP300/500.  Interested?  Call 903-791-1758 or email.

Steger Rosewood 73/88 Note Digital Piano

Here's a very different piece.... looks like a miniature square grand but is actually a type of reed instrument.  Rosewood cabinet, 73 keys, will be a very unique digital piano.  Can be made into a full 88 note digital if desired.  $5,500 price includes cabinet refinishing.

$5,500

Many digital options for this piece.  Interested?  Call 903-791-1758 or email.
