Ragland Piano Hammer Drill Jig

This hammer drilling jig was designed in house and is made in house at 314 Main Street, Texarkana, TX

Once the jig is set up properly in the drill press and the centerline of the hammer is set, no lateral adjustment will be required when changing bore angles.  This jig positions the hammer molding centerline exactly in line with the rotation of the platform.  Bore angles are from 15 degrees bass to 15 degrees treble, with the added option of setting a rake angle as well.  There is also a sacrificial insert which is replaced after drilling a set of grand hammers (upright hammers are not drilled all the way through, so replacement of the insert will not be necessary).  Thickness of this insert is also what sets the horizontal centerline of the hammer and there is a chart on the back showing what size insert will be needed for what thickness hammer molding.

The jig comes with 12 sacrificial inserts (unassembled so you can shim to correct thickness), shims for the inserts and two #7 bridge pins which align the inserts during assembly (see video below).  Chart for thicknesses is now engraved on the back of the jig. If you purchase the hand drill guide, a 7/32" drill bit, stop collar and allen wrench for the collar are also included.
